Model Venice
Only one day after the election of Ursula von der Leyen as Queen of Europe, Sig. Albert Gardin, the self-appointed 121st Doge of the Republic of Venice, which of course no longer exists since 1797, responded and congratulated the German on their success, not without to express the hope, that their rule would be the last and would lead to a confederation of all European nations extending from the Atlantic to the Bering Strait. Then there is a bit of moaning about the illegitimate occupation of Venice by Frenchmen, Germans and the so-called „Italy“ and also about transatlantic hegemony, despite which the republic is livelier and more active than ever. – May the German Reich citizens, the Austrian state objectors, the American sovereign citizens and all other far-right spinners take a role model in this noble separatist from the lagoon! Although they are and will remain political, intellectual and aesthetic douche bags, lunacy can be quite charming, as you can see.

Psychological test
What do you think of seeing a sky like this: a bad omen, a rousing world war, doomsday, the overdrawn current account? – I think, this sky looks like a nice glass of Campari-Spritz on a warm summer evening. There is still time for disasters the next morning.

Danish Tetris
A special feature of the Danish pavilion at the Venice Biennale is the floor on which, between opening in May and closing of the art exhibition in November, two pavers, flown in from Denmark, play a very slow game of Tetris against each other.

Sagen Sie jetzt bitte nichts.
Rhetorical question
Recently I saw this: not a rainbow, but a rain ring. That was not a reflex in the camera, but actually seen in the sky above me. Isn’t it amazing what physics and optics and whatever else may have been involved in doing so, can achieve with a little water and light, while I, in my brightly lit bathroom, do not always manage to take a bath accident-free? Please do not say anything now.

From the family album
Ever since my brother-in-law lay in the sun too long, my sister uses him as a mood light in the evening at their garden parties. Her friends are already very jealous.

Cat with a view
As the cat lurked for prey for some tens of years, she noticed to her astonishment that she was beginning to petrify. „Well,“ she thought, but forgot it immediately, because now her whole attention was on a small cheerful bird that flew from left to right through her field of vision.

Three howlers at the fireworks
After bravely defending our place on a windowsill for hours, the lanterns on the banks of the Giudecca are turned off as a sign of the beginning of the fireworks. Suddenly a young woman arrives and claims that there is still enough space, and if we stand on the bench, we will have a better view. An instant later she stands next to me and calls her two friends over the phone, that she found „a fantastic place“. At that moment the spectacle begins. I want to film the beginning, but she bumps into me. I make another try, but she’s jumping around in front of my camera. I start for the third time when her girlfriends arrive and climb up to join us, jostling me again so that the movie is spoilt. All the people around us are fascinated by the beautiful fireworks and do what one usually does, namely to shut up and nothing else, while the three lunatics cheer, shout, clap and, for whatever reason, praise the right-wing mayor from the Lega for the fireworks, as if he personally selected each rocket. In between they talk about which type of pasta resembles the last light phenomenon. – For half a day I sat on my butt only to enjoy this moment, and then the only three obviously completely insane under seventy thousand spectators remind me that in this world there is nothing for free.
