Stiller Held

Silent hero
This unattractive cutlery made of aluminum and sheet steel I organized these days 30 years ago on my second trip to the Soviet Union from an aeroflot machine. The irrational need for a souvenir was greater than my fear of embarrassment, which then was less pronounced than it is today. No metal detector protested on arrival in Moscow or on the return flight. The knife was blunt even then, but I probably could have taken the plane to Cuba with the fork. Missed the opportunity. I don’t want to justify myself, but at least by doing this little theft, I did my part to weaken the Soviet Union financially and thus end the Cold War. I didn’t get a place in the history books with it, but maybe it will work the next time. Filthy capitalism can of course not be brought to its knees by a stolen coffee spoon, but at least I have not been paid badly for years to teach young people what is not in the curriculum. Ha-ha!

The tomb of the Nefertiti
For decades, archaeological experts have disagreed as to whether Nefertiti’s burial chamber is actually behind the bricked door at the end of the stairs. One of the apprentices had suggested weeks ago to break through the wall and look, but of course they laughed at him. In the meantime, however, a majority of the researchers seemed to remember having had this idea first, which is why recently a slip was made in the wall and the cheeky apprentice was sent through. Unfortunately, before he could tell what he saw, the hole had already been bricked up again. So the debate will probably have to go on for a while.

Hurra!

Hooray! My blog turned one!
Unfortunately, the showcase was not finished in time. Please be patient for a moment.
