Richtigstellung

A Correction – Life is neither a construction site nor a long, tranquil river; rather, it is a narrow alleyway with nowhere to sit, ending at a locked door. If this metaphor doesn’t appeal to you—perhaps because your life resembles a ten-lane highway or a department store just before closing time—then so be it. Ultimately, life couldn’t care less which metaphor you choose: even if you believe you can determine the direction, you are still riding a driverless train down a steep slope. You don’t like that metaphor either? As I said, it makes no difference at all, for in the end, the curtain falls and (ad infinitum)

News from Art History – Italian researchers claim to have reconstructed the oldest comic strip from the ruins of an ancient temple. Unfortunately, the sequence of the eight panels remains unclear, which is why the story does not yet make sense.

Turning shit into art—or vice versa – What is missing here is something only those would miss who themselves would hardly be missed if they finally went the way of all flesh: the monument to the antisemitic Viennese mayor Karl Lueger was being restored, only to be placed back on its pedestal these days at the original site near Stubentor—tilted at an angle of 3.5 degrees. Although Lueger has been out of office since 1910, there still seem to be people who want to be reminded of him, as well as others who apparently believe that fascism and racism can be tackled through conceptual art. If that is true, then it is high time to erect artistically altered images of Hitler all over the country—in every village and every city.

It’s not just the Left that has this problem – At this year’s annual general meeting of the pigeons, they, too, failed to agree on a stance regarding Israel. After the particularly aggressive peace doves walked out of the meeting in protest, the grey majority decided to simply stick to their core business in the future. Sitting on trees and rooftops and shitting all over everything was work enough, after all; other matters should be left to others.

Science News – Education researchers at the University of Bad Aibling have found that the term „school“ is increasingly taking on negative connotations and therefore propose replacing it with more objective terms. In any case, nothing about the system can really be improved, and their proposal remains the most cost-effective option. („learning place“)
