Inzwischen ist die deutsche Einheit trotz gegenteiliger Presseberichte völlig hergestellt: Außen Schwarz-Rot-Gold, innen bräunlich mit grünen Kotzbrocken.

Ehrliches Landvolk
Irgendwo in Niederbayern war die automatische Bandansage des Regionalzuges gestört. Die Haltestellen wurden nicht angesagt, dafür erhielt ich kurz vor jeder Ortschaft die Auskunft „Rechts“. Immer noch ein netter Service, aber wer einmal in bayerischen Dörfern unterwegs war, kann sich das nun wirklich selber denken.
Honest country folk – Somewhere in Lower Bavaria the automatic announcement of the regional train was disrupted. The stops were not announced, but I received the information „right“ shortly before each town. Still a nice service, but anyone who has ever been to Bavarian villages can really imagine it for themselves.

Singapur ist verdammt!
Sollte der chinesische Präsident jemals erfahren, wie man in Singapur mit seinen literarischen Meisterwerken umgeht, wird es Bomben hageln. Aber bis dahin wird sich irgendjemand über einen Preisnachlass freuen dürfen, das ist eben die Logik des kapitalistischen Systems. Selbst schuld!
Singapore is doomed! – If the Chinese president ever finds out how Singapore treats his literary masterpieces, bombs will fall. But until then, someone will be able to enjoy a discount, that’s the logic of the capitalist system. You asked for it!
Oben in Auckland
Der Sky Tower in Auckland ist angeblich das höchste Gebäude der Südhalbkugel, was, wenn man bedenkt, dass diese v.a. aus Wasser besteht, nicht mehr ganz so beeindruckend ist. Sehr eindrucksvoll ist aber der Ausblick auf die Stadt und die über 50 Vulkane, die ihre Landschaft geformt haben. Noch schöner war, dass man im Turmcafé nicht nur steinharte slices, staubtrockene scones oder mit custard gefüllte Pappe, sondern tatsächlich ein richtiges Stück Torte bekommen konnte.
Up in Auckland – The Sky Tower in Auckland allegedly is the tallest building in the southern hemisphere, which isn’t all that impressive when you consider that it’s mostly covered with water. But the view of the city and the more than 50 volcanoes that have shaped its landscape is very impressive. It was even nicer that in the Café you could not only get rock-hard slices, bone-dry scones or cardboard filled with custard, but actually a real piece of cake.

Da inzwischen niemand mehr weiß, wann und wozu man sich bedankt, werden die diesbezüglichen Hinweise nach und nach entfernt, obwohl es doch vernünftiger wäre, mehr davon aufzustellen. Aber Vernunft und Bürokratie schließen sich bekanntlich aus. Es ist zum Verrücktwerden!
Signs that will soon be obsolete – Since no one knows anymore when and for what reason to say thank you, the references to this are gradually being removed, although it would be more sensible to post more of them. But reason and bureaucracy are mutually exclusive. It is to be crazy!
Oase in der Wüste
Kulturell haben die meisten Kleinstädte nicht viel zu bieten, das ist auch in Neuseeland nicht anders. Aber in manchen Orten gibt es überraschend gute Museen, in New Plymouth z.B. die Govett Brewster Art Gallery, die nicht nur architektonisch interessanter ist als vieles, was so in Deutschland herumsteht, sondern auch sehr schöne Kunst gezeigt hat.
Oasis in the desert – Most small towns don’t have much to offer culturally, and that’s no different in New Zealand. But in some places there are surprisingly good museums, in New Plymouth e.g. the Govett Brewster Art Gallery, which is not only architecturally more interesting than much of what is around in Germany, but also has very beautiful art on display.
Typisch Ärzte!
Obwohl die Erde schon erwachsen ist, leidet sie immer wieder unter schlimmen Hautunreinheiten. Gegen Pickel dieser Größenordnung helfen Kosmetika und Aknesalben leider nicht mehr, weshalb der Hautarzt auch zu einer psychotherapeutischen Behandlung rät. Dass die Erde seit einigen hunderttausend Jahren Mensch hat, ignoriert der Quacksalber jedoch, weil er sonst zugeben müsste, dass er gegen diesen Parasiten schlichtweg nichts in der Hand hat.

Unfortunately, cosmetics and acne ointments no longer help against pimples of this magnitude, which is why the dermatologist also recommends psychotherapeutic treatment. However, the quack ignores the fact that the earth has had humans for several hundred thousand years, because otherwise he would have to admit that he simply has nothing in his hands against this parasite.
