Als neulich am Stammtisch die Rede auf den Umgang der Kirche mit dem massenhaften Missbrauch von Kindern kam, bemerkte einer, die Kirche werde sich von diesem Gesichtsverlust nie wieder erholen, worauf unser Pfarrer Lübke erwiderte, das sei eigentlich gar nicht schlimm, denn wenn man erst einmal das Gesicht verloren habe, dann könne einem der nächste Skandal gar nichts anhaben, weil man ohne Gesicht ja unmöglich als Täter identifiziert werden könne. Dem mussten alle unter großem Gelächter zustimmen. Unser alter Pfarrer Lübke ist schon ein richtiger Filou.
Our Pastor Lübke – When the conversation at the regulars‘ table recently turned to how the Church has handled the widespread abuse of children, someone remarked that the Church would never recover from such a loss of face. Our Pastor Lübke replied that this wasn’t actually a bad thing at all; after all, once you’ve lost your face, the next scandal can’t possibly hurt you—because without a face, it’s impossible to be identified as the perpetrator. Everyone had to agree with that, amidst much laughter. Our old Pastor Lübke is quite the character.
