Heute verwendet man natürlich kein Schnurtelefon mehr, sondern vermutlich eines dieser neumodischen mobilen Geräte, weshalb dieses Modell im Weißen Haus inzwischen auf die Toilette des Präsidenten verbannt wurde und nur noch Verwendung findet, wenn mal das Klopapier ausgegangen ist.

This is the last model of the famous red phone that the Soviet Union and the United States used to exchange flattery during the Cold War. Today, of course, a corded phone is no more in use, but probably one of those newfangled mobile devices, which is why this model has now been banned to the President’s toilet in the White House and is only used when the toilet paper has run out.
