Was hier noch fehlt, fehlt eigentlich nur denen, die kaum jemandem fehlen würden, wenn sie endlich den Weg allen Fleisches gingen: Das Denkmal für den antisemischen Wiener Bürgermeister Karl Lueger wurde restauriert, um nun am ursprünglichen Ort am Stubentor um 3,5 Grad geneigt wieder auf den Sockel gestellt zu werden. Lueger ist zwar schon seit 1910 nicht mehr im Amt, aber es scheint immer noch Leute zu geben, die gerne an ihn erinnert werden wollen und andere, die zu glauben scheinen, dem Faschismus und Rassismus sei mit Konzeptkunst beizukommen. Wenn das stimmt, dann wird es höchste Zeit, überall im Land, in jedem Dorf, in jeder Stadt, ein künstlerisch verfremdetes Hitlerbildnis aufzustellen.
Turning shit into art—or vice versa – What is missing here is something only those would miss who themselves would hardly be missed if they finally went the way of all flesh: the monument to the antisemitic Viennese mayor Karl Lueger was being restored, only to be placed back on its pedestal these days at the original site near Stubentor—tilted at an angle of 3.5 degrees. Although Lueger has been out of office since 1910, there still seem to be people who want to be reminded of him, as well as others who apparently believe that fascism and racism can be tackled through conceptual art. If that is true, then it is high time to erect artistically altered images of Hitler all over the country—in every village and every city.
