Aus deutscher Sicht ist man ja schnell bereit, den Franzosen zu unterstellen, sie würden den Bock zum Gärtner machen, nicht nur in Bezug auf ihre Präsidentschaftswahlen, aber wie man hier vor dem Louvre beobachten kann, stimmt das nur zum Teil, denn dieser Gärtner ist angekettet und kann darum nur wenig Schaden anrichten.

Kunst ist schön, macht aber viel Arbeit
Im Louvre zu zeichnen, ist anstrengend, weil man erst all die Menschen wegradieren muss, um irgendetwas sehen zu können. Fürs Ausmalen hat die Kraft dann nicht mehr gereicht.
Art is beautiful, but it takes a lot of work – To draw in the Louvre is exhausting because you have to erase all the people first to be able to see anything. So there was no longer enough strength to color it.

Besuch bei Freunden auf Montparnasse
Neulich war ich in Paris und habe ein paar Zeichner besucht. Wolinski habe ich einen Bleistift dagelassen, falls er doch mal wieder einen braucht. Moebius habe ich leider nicht gefunden, aber der war schon zu Lebzeiten eher schwer zugänglich.
Visiting friends on Montparnasse – I was in Paris the other day and visited a couple of artists. I left a pencil with Wolinski in case he needs one again. Unfortunately, I did not find Moebius, but he was rather difficult to access even during his lifetime.
