Too much information

Die Neuseeländer sind wirklich nett, höflich und zuvorkommend, aber manchmal auch ein bisschen zu aufmerksam. So werde ich, anscheinend wegen meines Akzents, jeden Tag zutreffend aber ungefragt mehrmals darüber informiert, dass ich aus Deutschland komme, wobei ich ja ans andere Ende der Welt geflogen bin, um genau diesen Umstand mal vergessen zu dürfen.

Too much information – The New Zealanders are really nice, polite and courteous, but sometimes a bit too attentive. So, apparently because of my accent, I am informed several times every day, correctly but without having asked for, that I come from Germany, although I flew to the other end of the world to be able to forget exactly this fact.

Frieren bei Freunden

Im Mai und Juni war ich am anderen Ende der Welt in Neuseeland und habe Susi, Paddy und Harvey (Davidson) auf ihrem Campingplatz in Hawke’s Bay besucht. Auf dem Sofa im Wohnzimmer ließ sich gut zeichnen, aber weil gerade der Winter begann, war ich ein bisschen zu weit entfernt von der einzigen Wärmequelle. Doch ich habe gelernt, dass Frieren für die Kiwis Teil ihres lifestyle ist und man eisiges Regenwetter am besten in T-Shirt, kurzen Hosen und barfuß ignoriert.

Freezing with friends – In May and June I was at the other end of the world in New Zealand and visited Susi, Paddy and Harvey (Davidson) at their campsite in Hawke’s Bay. On the sofa in the living room, it was easy to draw, but because winter started, I was a bit too far away from the only heat source. But I have learned that freezing is part of their lifestyle for the Kiwi’s and the best way to ignore icy rainy weather is T-shirt, shorts and barefoot.
