Der Sturm auf die Bastille wird leider immer noch falsch interpretiert. Tatsächlich ging es den Stürmern gar nicht um die Befreiung der in der Festung Inhaftierten, denn diese war ein Luxusknast für in Ungnade gefallene Adelige. Während der Adel außerhalb der Bastille den dritten Stand bis aufs Blut auspresste, labten sich die in der Bastille Gefangenen an eben diesem, das verdünnt und gezuckert gereicht wurde, wie es damals in Mode war. Heutzutage würde man Wurst daraus machen, aber wir leben halt auch in wenig zivilisierten Zeiten.
What it was really like – The storming of the Bastille is unfortunately still misinterpreted. In fact, the stormers weren’t even concerned with freeing the prisoners in the fortress, as it was a luxury prison for disgraced noblemen. While the nobility outside the Bastille squeezed the Third Estate dry, the prisoners inside the Bastille feasted on the rest, served diluted and sugared, as was fashionable at the time. Today, they’d make sausage out of it, but we live in less than civilized times.
