Franz Kafka war bekanntlich der größte tschechische Humorist und ein Schelm dazu. Max Brod berichtet, dass Kafka, wenn er seine Texte vorlas, oft in hysterisches Lachen ausgebrochen sei. Was Brod aber nicht berichtet, ist, dass Kafka auch der erste und einzige tschechische Humorarchitekt gewesen ist. Schon Jahre vor der Niederschrift des Romans „Das Schloss“ errichtete Kafka ein Gebäude, das wie der Roman nie fertiggestellt wurde und seine Bewohner bis heute in den Wahnsinn treibt. Manche finden angeblich nie wieder hinaus.

What Brod doesn’t report, however, is that Kafka was also the first and only Czech architect of humor. Years before writing the novel „The Castle,“ Kafka erected a building that, like the novel, was never completed and continues to drive its inhabitants mad to this day. Some supposedly never find their way out again.
