Roald Dahl illustrieren

Im August 2015 war die wunderbare Kat Menschik unsere Gastdozentin im Grafischen Trainingslager des Nordkollegs in Rendsburg. Sie gab uns unter anderem die Aufgabe, je eine Seite der Erzählung „William und Mary“ von Roald Dahl zu illustrieren. So kam ein wirklich sehr schönes Büchlein zusammen. Ich steuerte auch eine Seite und das Titelbild bei.

Illustrate Roald Dahl – In August 2015, the wonderful Kat Menschik was our guest lecturer at the graphics training camp of the Nordkolleg in Rendsburg. Among other things, she gave us the task of illustrating one page each of Roald Dahl’s story “William and Mary”. This is how a really nice little book came together. I also contributed a page and the cover.

Weil Barkeeper und Publikum um einiges jünger waren als ich, nahm ich meinem Alter angemessen einen sehr guten Old Fashioned und genoss die angenehme Atmosphäre. Falls Sie mal in Wien sind: Neustiftgasse 26, nicht weit vom Volkstheater.

Moby Dick Bar in Vienna – Because the bartenders and crowd were quite a bit younger than me, I had a very good Old Fashioned, appropriate for my age, and enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere. If you are in Vienna: Neustiftgasse 26, not far from the Volkstheater.

Café Sperl in Wien

Im Sperl gibt es wahrscheinlich eine bessere Sachertorte als im Sacher, aber das ist, zugegeben, nur mein Vorurteil, weil ich nicht ins Sacher gehe – man kommt ja eh nicht rein, weil da die Touristen Schlange stehen, die nicht wissen, dass es im Sacher nur die zweitbeste Sachertorte gibt. Aber das ist auch gut so, weil ich dann gewiss einen Platz bekomme in meinem Lieblingscafé.

Cafe Sperl in Vienna – The Sperl probably has a better Sacher cake than the Sacher, but admittedly that’s just my prejudice, because I don’t go to the Sacher – you can’t get in anyway because there are queues of tourists who don’t know that at the Sacher you only get the second best Sacher cake. But that’s a good thing, because so I can be sure I’ll get a seat in my favorite café.

Café Zartl in Wien

Im Café Zartl haben schon Musil und Doderer gesessen und bestimmt die ein oder andere Kardinalschnitte genossen. Wären Sie etwas später gekommen, hätten sie auch mit Eisler anstoßen und sich von Hrdlicka anknurren lassen können. Weil ich leider zu spät dran war, konnte ich dies nicht, aber der Kuchen war sehr gut.

Cafe Zartl in Vienna – Musil and Doderer have already sat in Café Zartl and certainly enjoyed one or the other cardinal cut. If they had come a little later, they could have toasted with Eisler and let Hrdlicka growl at them. Unfortunately I was late so I couldn’t, but the cake was very good.
