Ornithologen haben in einer repräsentativen Befragung ansässiger Vögel herausgefunden, dass die meisten dieser Tiere kein Verständnis für die von der Bundesregierung angeordneten Hygienemaßnahmen haben. Masken würden durchweg abgelehnt und Abstandsregeln nur selten eingehalten. Da der Mensch die Population um 70% dezimiert habe, sei nun eh mehr Platz.

Für junge Leute gibt es nun ein attraktives Angebot des Studentenwerks München. Ein Tiny House wie das Abgebildete kann an jeder freien Fläche einfach befestigt werden. Es sei geplant, ein erstes Dutzend dieser preiswerten kleinen Wohnungen am Olympiaturm anzubringen. Ohne Kenntnisse im Abseilen könne man die Wohnung dann zwar nicht mehr verlassen, aber in der Pandemie hätten die Studenten ja Übung darin bekommen, zuhause zu bleiben. So könnten sie sich auch viel besser auf das Wesentliche konzentrieren.

Als ich endlich in Urlaub fahren konnte, fühlte ich mich bald schon erholt und erleichtert, wie sich das gehört. Heute jedoch bekam ich einen Anruf von dem Hotel, in dem ich nächtigte, ich möge doch bitte all den Ballast abholen, den ich dort gelassen hätte. In dieser Welt geht leider nichts verloren.

Well – When I was finally able to go on vacation, I soon felt relaxed and relieved, as it should be. Today, however, I got a call from the hotel where I was staying, asking that I please pick up all the ballast that I had left there. Unfortunately, nothing is lost in this world.

Neulich haben griechische Glaziologen zufällig die Quelle des Mittelmeeres gefunden und so zugleich die Frage beantwortet, weshalb der Meeresspiegel in den letzten Jahren merklich gestiegen ist. „Wir waren eigentlich nur auf der Suche nach etwas Eis für einen anständigen Spritz Ouzo“, sagt der Forschungsleiter, als ihn sein Assistent auf die Quelle aufmerksam gemacht habe. Er habe festgestellt, dass sie tropft, weil eine Dichtung defekt sei, und darum hätten sie kurzerhand den Gummi ausgetauscht und den Hahn zugedreht. Seitdem habe es keine einzige Überschwemmung mehr gegeben. Das griechische Fremdenverkehrsamt hat sich darüber sehr gefreut und den braven Wissenschaftlern einen ganzen Kasten Spritz Ouzo spendiert. „Leider ohne Eis“, fügt der Forschungsleiter hinzu.

Onkel Herbert hat sich neulich für viel Geld eine alte Rostmühle andrehen lassen, die keinen Meter mehr fährt. Er besteht aber darauf, ein Schnäppchen gemacht zu haben, denn der Verkäufer habe ihm stichhaltige Beweise vorgelegt, dass es sich bei dem Wagen um den legendären Moonrover handele, den Luis Armstrong auf dem Mond gefahren habe. Tante Gerda hat das aber nicht glauben wollen und ihrem Mann die Koffer vor die Tür gestellt. Nun müsse er eben in dem Wagen schlafen, bis sich seine Frau wieder abgeregt habe. Allerdings regne es durch die fehlenden Fenster. Aber das sei ihm egal, schließlich besitze nicht jeder einen Wagen von solch historischer Bedeutung.

But he insists that he got a bargain, because the seller had provided him with solid evidence that the car was the legendary moon rover that Luis Armstrong drove on the moon. Aunt Gerda didn’t want to believe it and put her husband’s suitcase in front of the door. Now he had to sleep in the car until his wife calm down again. However, it is raining through the missing windows. But he doesn’t care, after all, not everyone owns a car of such historical importance.

Trotzdem könnte man es für komplett wahnsinnig halten, dass Sie seit Beginn der Pandemie gegen Masken und Impfstoffe agitieren, wenn es nicht tatsächlich, aus Ihrer Sicht, komplett vernünftig wäre. Denn wie sich nun herausstellte, hat Ihre Frau schon im Februar letzten Jahres, also noch bevor Covid19 von der WHO als Pandemie klassifiziert wurde, in das antivirale Medikament Remdesivir investiert. Sie wissen nicht vielleicht, wer ihr da etwas so frühzeitig gesteckt haben könnte? Ist Ihre Frau nicht mit einem Mitglied im Gesundheitsausschuss des Senats verheiratet? Was soll’s, Hauptsache gesund, nicht wahr? Zynische Grüße.

Ich hatte mir mal vorgenommen, bis zum Ende meines Lebens ein Buch gebaut, einen Baum gezeugt, ein Haus geschrieben und ein Kind gepflanzt zu haben. Nichts davon habe ich geschafft. Ich weiß nicht, wie die anderen das machen.

Plan not fulfilled – I had once decided that by the end of my life I would have built a book, made a tree, written a house and planted a child. I didn’t manage any of that. I don’t know how the others do it.
