Für den ersten Entwurf ihres Logos hat sich eine US-amerikanische Computerfirma viel Zeit gelassen. Das war am 1. April 1976. Damals war es sehr angesagt, ein bisschen exzentrisch zu sein, besonders in der IT-Branche. Der damalige Kreativdirektor hat ein Apfelbäumchen gepflanzt und dann einige Jahrzehnte gewartet. Nachdem der Baum gefällt und zu Brettern zersägt worden war, hat er ein Astloch mit Spachtelmasse ausgefüllt und fand die Form so schön, dass er das Brett zur nächsten Vorstandssitzung mitbrachte. Dummerweise hatte der Chef für dieses Vorgehen kein Verständnis und den Kreativheini darum schon vor Jahrzehnten gefeuert und war inzwischen sowieso schon tot. Auch vor Gericht hatte die Klage des Designers, man habe ihm seinen Entwurf gestohlen, keinen Erfolg. Danach behauptete der Mann, es habe sich eh um einen Aprilscherz gehandelt, aber damit machte er auf die Pfleger in der geschlossenen Abteilung kaum Eindruck.
Occupational risk – An American computer company took a long time to draft its logo. That was on April 1st, 1976. Back then, being a little eccentric was very popular, especially in the IT industry. The creative director at the time planted an apple tree and then waited a few decades. After the tree was felled and sawed into boards, he filled a knothole with filler and found the shape so beautiful that he brought the board to the next board meeting. Unfortunately, the boss had no understanding for this approach and therefore fired the creative twerp decades ago and was already dead in the meantime. Even in court, the designer’s complaint that his design had been stolen from him was unsuccessful. The man then claimed it was an April Fool’s joke anyway, but that made little impression on the nurses in the closed ward.
