Eigentlich wollte ich nur das Café im Hotel Imperial zeichnen, da fiel mir der Mann am Nebentisch auf. Ich war mir nicht ganz sicher, aber ich habe ihn dennoch gezeichnet und dann gefragt, ob er derjenige sei, für den ich ihn hielte. Er war es tatsächlich, fand sich auch gut getroffen und signierte meine Zeichnung. Allein das Zöpfchen sei zu kurz geraten, sagte er. Ich bedankte mich und natürlich machte ich dann erst einmal etwas vollkommen anderes.
Terry Gilliam in Vienna – I actually just wanted to make a drwing of the café in the Hotel Imperial when I noticed the man at the next table. I wasn’t entirely sure, but I made a sketch of him anyway and then asked if he was who I thought he was. It was actually him, he thought he was well captured and signed my drawing. Only the pigtail was too short, he said. I thanked him and after that I did of course something completely different.
