Was manche nicht wissen, ist, dass viele Bäume furchtbar unter Karies leiden, aber aus verschiedenen Gründen nicht zum Zahnarzt gehen wollen. Darauf angesprochen rechtfertigen sie sich damit, dass sie an ihrem Standort tief verwurzelt seien und den Wald gar nicht verlassen könnten, aber einem Flachwurzler muss man das nun wirklich nicht glauben. Andere geben vor, es sei gar nicht schlimm und sie würden eh nur flüssige Nahrung zu sich nehmen. Tatsächlich schämen sie sich, weil sie glauben, Bäume dürften keine Schwäche zeigen, ohne befürchten zu müssen, gleich ins Sägewerk geschickt zu werden. Diese Haltung führt dann erst dazu, dass sie innerlich so sehr verrotten, dass es nicht einmal mehr fürs Sägewerk reicht. Dass im Wald immer noch der Machismo der 1950er Jahre verbreitet ist, zeigt, dass es grundfalsch war, die Forsten jahrzehntelang allein unter dem Gesichtspunkt der Wirtschaftlichkeit zu betrachten.
News from the forest – What some don’t know is that many trees suffer terribly from tooth decay, but for various reasons they don’t want to go to the dentist. When asked about this, they justify themselves by saying that they are deeply rooted in their location and cannot leave the forest at all, but you really don’t have to believe that statment by a shallow root tree. Others pretend that it doesn’t matter and that they only consume liquid food anyway. In fact, they are ashamed because they believe trees shouldn’t show weakness without fear of being sent to the sawmill. This attitude then leads to the fact that they rot inside so much that it even won’t do for the sawmill. The fact that the machismo of the 1950s is still widespread in the forest shows that it was fundamentally wrong to look at forests solely from the point of view of economic efficiency for decades.
