Während man in Deutschland auf keinen Fall mit geschlossenen Augen essen sollte und es als unhöflich angesehen wird, jemandem schon 50 Jahre vorher zum 60. Geburtstag zu gratulieren, gibt es in Neuseeland noch viel seltsamere Bräuche. Im vorliegenden Fall konnte allerdings auch auf Nachfrage nicht geklärt werden, ob es verboten ist, eben in Einzelteile zerlegte Menschen ins Wasser zu werfen oder ob, wer ins Wasser springt, umgehend amputiert wird.

Als Alfred Nobel zum ersten Mal den Alchemisten Berthold Schwarz traf, hat er ihn zuerst gar nicht erkannt. Erst als Schwarz ein Feuerwerk aus Pointen zündete, wusste Nobel, mit wem er es zu tun hatte. Seitdem waren sie beste Freunde, obwohl Schwarz öfter beklagte, dass Nobel ihm ständig auf die Füße gestiegen sei.

Nothing new from Nobel – When Alfred Nobel met the alchemist Berthold Schwarz for the first time, he did not recognize him at first. Großonkel Robert hat schon vor Jahren an seiner Haustür einen Schlitz angebracht und der Familie mitgeteilt, dass künftig bei Besuchen von Verwandten ein Eintrittsgeld in Höhe von 100 Mark fällig werde. Es sei ihm im Übrigen völlig klar, dass die Mark schon lange außer Mode sei und man inzwischen in Euro bezahle, was zum einen eine Frechheit und zum anderen ein Segen sei, denn erst so könne er sicher sein, auch weiterhin von unerwünschtem Familienbesuch verschont zu bleiben. Überflüssig zu sagen, dass Großonkel Robert in der Familie nicht hoch angeschrieben ist.

Wie ich eben zu meiner Überraschung feststellen musste, habe ich einen Untermieter! Er sagt, sein Name sei Leitz, weswegen er jedes Recht habe, in einem seiner Ordner zu wohnen und ich möge nun bitte wieder die Türe schließen, er könne sich nicht erinnern, mich eingeladen zu haben. Von mir aus. Miete zahlt er natürlich keine, aber solange er in der Ablage 2013-14 wohnen bleibt und keinen Lärm macht, soll es mir gleich sein.

Forschern der Universität in Venedig ist es mit einer Hochgeschwindigkeitskamera erstmals gelungen, ein Bild einer Tagestouristin zu machen, zumindest von Teilen von ihr. Aufgrund der enorm hohen Geschwindigkeit, mit der die Dame unterwegs war, sind ihre Füße mehrmals, aber relativ deutlich zu erkennen. Anscheinend hat sie während der Aufnahme einen Schuh verloren und hatte sogar Zeit, in einem Geschäft einen Ersatzschuh zu kaufen, wenn auch nicht von der gleichen Farbe. Die Identität der Frau konnte nicht festgestellt werden, aber wen interessiert das schon.

Als der Gebrauch von Botox noch nicht üblich war, mussten die Menschen noch festinstallierte Mimikschalter benutzen, wenn sie Freude oder Missmut auch nonverbal ausdrücken wollten. Da dies im Zeitalter der Sozialen Medien mit Emojis viel einfacher geht, sieht man eine Vorrichtung wie die abgebildete nur noch in Museen oder in albernen Filmen.
